Wicked

Wicked

Pattern: Wicked (the 36-39 inch size)
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Ease in Lake (3.25 skeins!)
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Needles size 7 (and 6 for the neck)
Start Date: May 13, 2007
End Date: May 23, 2007
Wicked NecklineComments: Wow. After Thermal, this top essentially knit itself. I kind of feel like the Peanuts kids on the Christmas Special where they just frantically wave their hands over the Christmas tree and it is instantly decorated. Really all I did to knit this was wave my hands about a lot. 🙂

This sweater was an easy, satisfying knit. The pattern was well written and the Cotton Ease knit up wonderfully. Only thing is for some reason I used slightly more yarn than the pattern indicated was necessary. All told I think this sweater cost me around $25 for the pattern and the yarn. Not bad.

I knit this top with my Denise set instead of my KnitPicks Options because I like being able to connect more length to the cable to try on the top as I go. That really is the biggest drawback for me with the Options set – no connector pieces! Oh well, that’s why I hold on to my Denise set.

Not much else to say about this knit. The only modification I made was I knit the neck on needles one size smaller than the rest of the top. I did this to ensure that the neckline wasn’t too wide and it worked.

What’s next you ask? It’s time for the Summertime Tunic! Details Monday. 🙂

(And check out my post from yesterday for my summer goals and a link to someone’s contest!)

Bummed

I’m pouting because I ran out of yarn. The pattern calls for 600 yards. I had 621. I am knitting to gauge. 😦 Wicked is now officially on hold until I can pick up another skein of Cotton Ease. Maybe I can swing by Jo Ann’s tonight before Knitting Group.

Bummer.

Thank you to everyone for the awesome comments about Thermal! It was so nice to hear that you like it too. Happily now I can move on to my next project – Wicked.

I cast-on for Wicked Sunday night and I’m already past the division for the arms! Wow! I’m using Lion Brand Cotton Ease (50% Cotton, 50% Acrylic) in the color Lake. I’m knitting the 36-39 inch size on size 7 needles. I did go ahead and knit the neckline on 6’s as other people online went down one needle size with good results.

I tried the top on last night and so far it looks like it is going to be an excellent summer top. I was worried that the blue was a little too light in color for me, but I’m starting to really like it. The Cotton Ease is knitting up very nicely and feels good.
