Pattern: Cross Stitch Block from More Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch
Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Seduction in Ms. LaRock (50% Merino/50% Tencel)
Needles: Hiya Hiya US0/2.0mm
Start Date: August 6, 2007
End Date: August 23, 2007
Comments: This pattern was really fun to knit. It was easy to keep track of and had a fun twist with the crossover. The yarn was spectacular. Adrienne had told me how much I would love knitting with Seduction and she was absolutely right. The yarn has a gorgeous stitch definition and sheen plus it feels great as you knit. I’m already trying to decide what color to get next. I think I may wait for the Raven series…

A couple weeks ago I received a neat little welcome package from A Swell Yarn Shop for the Lucky Lurker Sock Club. In the package was a nice welcome letter, pattern, adorable accessories pouch, a card with directions for the kitchener stitch, a tape measure, magnet, and scrap yarn for knitting peasant heels. A very nice way to build the anticipation for the first sock yarn. I can’t wait!

I also finally received my first mailing from the Sunshine Yarns Harry Potter Sock Club. Apparently I missed the package when I moved. Dani at Sunshine Yarns was able to find it and send it on it’s way to me here in Oregon. The color is “Another Weasley” and it is a really neat colorway. Definitely evocative of the wonderful Weasley family. I’m not sure what pattern to use with it, but I’m sure inspiration will strike soon.

On a non-knitting note, Matt’s PhD defense is officially scheduled for Thursday, September 13th and if all goes well he will be here very soon after. This time apart has been very difficult especially as I was not with him for his 30th birthday last week nor our 4th anniversary yesterday. We plan on celebrating when he gets here. If anyone has any restaurant suggestions for the Portland area, I’d love to hear them. Also, suggestions for where to go on an overnight trip to the coast would also be greatly appreciated. 🙂
